Flying with the EXP5000

● FD (Flight Director) Mode - The Flight Director steering

command bars are green and the FD annunciation appears on

the PFD In FD mode, the command bars show you where to

steer, but you need to guide the aircraft so that the Aircraft

Reference Symbol (ARS) is tucked into the steering command

bars.

● AP/FD (Autopilot and Flight Director) Mode - The FD steering

command bars are magenta and both AP and FD annunciations

appear on the PFD. In AP/FD mode, the autopilot flies the aircraft

toward the FD command bars, tucking the ARS into the FD

command bars.

A switch on the S-TEC IntelliFlight faceplate enables you to select the

AP (autopilot) and FD (flight director) modes.

The FD steering command bars are limited to +/- 30° in roll and +/-

15° in pitch with respect to the aircraft reference symbol.

Failures

The S-TEC 2100 is intended to be used in a dual-PFD

configuration. However, if your aircraft is equipped with the

autopilot ADAHRS disconnect switch, and a PFD fails, you

can still operate the autopilot from the working PFD (after

switching the autopilot ADAHRS disconnect switch).
